About Konrad Hughes

Konrad Hughes
Konrad Hughes is a junior at the University of Missouri, majoring in atmospheric science. He is a research assistant working on weather radar applications in short-term forecasting situations. He is also an Air Force ROTC cadet and works part time at the campus police department. His other activities include karate, storm-chasing, computer programming, fly-fishing, and amateur writing and composition. After graduation, he plans on receiving his commission from the Air Force and pursuing a career in either meteorology or aviation.
He applied for the Bridgestone Americas Safety Scholars program in 2007, to help pay for the expensive tuition that comes with attending college out of town. Putting his writing skills to work, he won the essay contest and was fortunate enough to have racing legend Mario Andretti present him with the award in person, a memorable event he still can’t quite believe.
Konrad is helping Bridgestone Americas once again by writing for its ThinkBeforeYouDrive.org Web site with the hopes of sharing safe driving tips and advice with as many people as possible.
